Format Change for New Student Email Addresses

Faculty may notice a change in the email address format for many of their students. New MCC students have received an email address that consists of first initial followed by last name. In cases where this does not produce a unique name, a number is added to the end, starting with 1 and incrementing as necessary to form a unique name. (Some comparison examples are below.) The maximum letters and digits in the email address will be 20. The format for returning students remains unchanged.  Returning students will retain their email addresses in the current format (first initial followed by last name followed by three numbers for example, jsmith001).

This format change for student email addresses is in preparation for MCC’s Luminis Portal Project. A benefit of this project will provide for a single sign-on for most MCC applications and systems. New faculty/staff are also receiving an email address in the new format but it is not as evident since the majority of faculty/staff email addresses did not include numbers.

Examples of the new format:

<"mailto:msmith22@student.monroecc.edu">
<"mailto:aparker1@student.monroecc.edu">
<"mailto:tchristopher@student.monroecc.edu">

Examples of the old format:

<"mailto:msmith022@student.monroecc.edu">
<"mailto:aparker001@student.monroecc.edu">
<"mailto:tchristopher001@student.monroecc.edu">
