Exciting News from MCC Libraries

It is my great pleasure to welcome new and returning students, faculty, and staff to the MCC Libraries! The MCC Libraries include the LeRoy V. Good Library on the Brighton Campus, the Downtown Campus Learning Commons, and a plethora of supports and resources to meet the needs of in-person, online, and off-campus students. Your MCC account provides unlimited access to all the Libraries have to offer.

The MCC Libraries were named the 2019 Rochester Regional Library Council Academic Library of the Year. We’ve rapidly responded to the changing needs of the MCC community over the past two years by increasing our digital collections, adding technology-enhanced spaces for students to take remote and online classes, adding Zoom research appointments, and much more. We are committed to continuing to evolve to best meet the needs of our community based on the feedback received from students themselves!

I would like to draw your attention to a few notable items of importance this semester:

  • We’ve updated our MCC Libraries purpose statement:

The MCC Libraries are committed to empowering students to become critical thinkers, effective researchers, and life-long learners by designing and implementing innovative instruction, fostering interdisciplinary and community collaborations, curating high-quality collections, and providing welcoming gathering spaces for the college. Through our commitment to equity and inclusion, we support the holistic needs of the diverse MCC community.

  • The service desk at the LeRoy V. Good Library on the Brighton Campus has been reconfigured to provide a more friendly user experience and allow us to meet student needs better.
  • We are excited to offer several new digital resources, especially: Academic Video OnlineEBSCOhosts Diversity & Ethnic Studies ebook collection, and the New York Times Digital Edition.
  • The MCC Libraries is rolling out a long term laptop loan program for MCC students. Students who need access to a laptop may check one out for up to a semester at a time. Students can use this form to request a loan for Fall 2022.
  • Updated Fall 2022 building hours:
    • Access to the LeRoy V. Good Library, Brighton Campus will be reduced to 8:45AM to 7:00PM Mondays through Thursdays and 8:00AM to 4:00PM on Fridays. We recognize that this change will impact students who regularly use our evening and weekend hours and are collecting data and feedback from students, faculty, and staff on how these changes affect them.
    • Hours for the Downtown Campus Learning Commons will remain 8:00AM to 6:00PM Mondays through Thursdays and 8:00AM to 4:00PM on Fridays.
