The Liberal Arts and Sciences degree (LA04) provides flexibility to tailor coursework for a smooth transfer. The goal is to obtain your A.S. degree while taking SUNY General Education and foundation courses for your major at the 4-year degree institution.

As of Fall 2023, all incoming transfer students to Nazareth University with an Associate Degree are exempt from their core/general education requirements.

Directions:

1. Choose your intended Nazareth University major from the list below.

2. Use your MCC Degree Works worksheet and the major courses listed below to choose courses to take at MCC. Take as many of the courses outlined for your specific major as you are able (as well as the SUNY Gen Ed courses needed for the MCC degree). Consult with an MCC advisor prior to course registration.

Depending on your intended major, you may be able to take additional electives of your choice to obtain the minimum needed 60 credits to graduate. Important: 60 credits of "Nazareth approved" Liberal Arts coursework are required to graduate from Nazareth University. For your electives, make sure to choose what Naz approves as liberal arts courses. Good choices include: English, social sciences, math, natural sciences, foreign languages, philosophy, as well as SPC courses.

Prospective MCC students, see the
MCC Liberal Arts and Sciences - General Studies A.S. degree outline.

3. Carefully read the notes at the bottom of this page; contact your MCC advisor or Nazareth if you have questions.

4. Meet with
Nazareth Transfer Admissions staff to plan your transfer. Apply to Nazareth the semester before you complete your degree at MCC.
