MCC's Men of Excellence attend "Men Empowering Men Conference" at SUNY Brockport
On Saturday, March 31, 2018, four members from the Men of Excellence Program, Peter Rogers, Ta'yon Demps, Gregory Kendricks, and Diakari Titus travelled to SUNY Brockport and participated in a dynamic professional development conference. The theme for this year's conference: Men Empowering Men through Networking; Empowering; "Academic and Professional Development of the African American man" was a transformation experience for the attendees. The keynote speakers were: Dr. Cephas Archie, SUNY Brockport's New Chief Diversity Officer and Mr. Vincent Felder, Monroe County Legislator for District 22. The two men delivered powerful messages on the important role of African American males in higher education.
The conference afforded the students to meet Dr. Archie and Mr. Felder and network with other men of color from SUNY Brockport. Students were enlightened by the exchange of information that was shared during the conference; they walked away in a moving spirit in how they can be better students at MCC and strengthen themselves for future endeavors.
