News from the January MCC Board of Trustees Meeting

The MCC Board of Trustees met on Monday, January 29, 2024 and took the following actions:

  1. Welcomed new trustee John B. Baynes to the Board
  2. Adopted the consent agenda effective January 29, 2023
  3. Received a presentation on the annual audit of Monroe Community College for the fiscal year ending August 31, 2023, by Bonadio & Co., LLP
  4. Accepted operating disbursements totaling $ $6,702,770.04 for the month of November 2023, subject to final audit. (A detailed listing is available upon request.)
  5. Accepted the Interim Financial Report as of November 30, 2023
  6. Authorized Purchase of items over $20,000 as listed for the month of November 2023
  7. Adopted the “MCC Acceptable Use of College Technology Policy”
  8. Adopted the “Consensual Relationships Policy”
  9. Adopted the “Drug-Free Workplace Policy”
  10. Adopted the “Password Policy”
  11. Adopted the “Preferred First Name Policy” 

The Board heard presentations from:

  • Student Testimonial by Jessica Horners
  • Student Trustee Update by Ana Santos
  • Student Success Dashboard with Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Measurements William Dixon, Director, Research
  • Dr. DeAnna R. Burt-Nanna provided the President’s Update, which include an update on enrollment with 4.3% increase in  Full Time Enrollment (FTE) a 5.1% increase in new student enrollment, with new applications up 22%, highlights from her co-presentation to the SUNY Board of Trustees for Community Colleges last week including the Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse Tech Hub designation and MCC’s contributions to the application, an update on the Applied Technology Center noting the demolition for the new site is completed. Following an extensive outreach and feedback campaign, the overwhelming support indicated and based on the authority granted from MCC Policy 5.1 Arming Members of the Public Safety Department Policy, President Burt-Nanna informed the Board her authorization for  the use of long rifles for MCC Peace Officers and will now work with MCC public safety to secure the addition of this equipment.
  •   Dr. Robin Cole Jr., Economic & Workforce Development & Career Technical Education (EDIWS) on EDIWS activities, Dr. Calvin Gantt, Vice President, Diversity, Equity and Belonging and Executive Director, Downtown Campus on division activities; Greg Hinton, CFO/Vice President, on Administrative Services activities; Dr. Margaret Semmer, Provost & Vice President on Academic Service activities; Gretchen Wood, Vice President Institutional Advancement and Executive Director, MCC Foundation on division activities, Maureen R. Wolfe, Board Chair of the MCC Foundation on  upcoming activities, including the upcoming 26th Annual Gold Star Gala on April 27, 2024 and the 40th Annual Scholarship Open on June 24, 2024
  • Shared Governance representatives including Student Government Association President Joseph Leichtner, Faculty Senate President Rebecca Babcock, Dr. Burt-Nanna representing Administration, and Support Staff Planning Council provided a written report
  • Faculty Association President Bethany Gizzi provided an update; CSEA leaders provided a written update.
