Passing of Visual & Performing Department adjunct, Sarah Ballard

Greece: Sarah Templar Ballard, age 43, formerly of Bloomfield, passed away Friday, September 15, 2023, with her family by her side, after a long battle with melanoma. She is survived by three children, Madilynn, Ryan and Jackson; parents, Greg and Cathy Templar; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Christi Templar; nephew, Chance; niece, Sofi; longtime partner, Brian Gilfilian; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sarah was born in Rochester and raised in Bloomfield. She was a graduate of Bloomfield Central School, class of 1997. Sarah earned an associate’s degree in interior design from MCC in 2000, a Bachelor of Arts from Nazareth College in 2004, and a Master of Arts from the University of Arizona in 2006. Sarah began teaching as an adjunct here at MCC in 2008 instructing in three of VaPa’s academic areas: Fine Arts, Applied Arts & Design, and Interior Design.  Sarah also taught art history for years as an adjunct at RIT and SUNY Brockport. Sarah enjoyed traveling throughout the United States as well as other countries. She loved spending time near Lake Ontario. Education and art were very important to Sarah, but her children and family meant the most to her.

Friends may call Saturday, October 7, from 12pm to 2pm, at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 2 South Ave., East Bloomfield, NY 14443. Her memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at the funeral home. A private Interment will be in Rose Ridge Cemetery, Naples. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the family for her children. Condolences may be offered at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home website.
