Important Information about Your Paycheck starting September 2023

As you may know, the College currently pays certain full-time employees in advance - specifically Executive, Non-Contract, and Faculty Association employees paid over a 12-month period.  This means that employees are paid ahead for days they are expected to work in the future.  This pay cycle creates much confusion because the current pay in advance system means employee paychecks do not align with submitted time sheets.

The most significant confusion occurs when an employee separates from the College.  In most cases, an employee separating from the College receives their final paycheck before their last day worked (depending on separation date).

The College has a rare opportunity in fiscal year (FY) 2024 to shift to a pay in arrears system, with minimal impact on employees compared to making this change in other fiscal years. This shift will align pay with days worked and employees would be paid for their days after they have been worked.  The effective date of this change will be September 1, 2023, and the primary takeaway for impacted employees is that your first paycheck in September 2023 will include 5 days instead of 10 days.  Future paychecks will all include 10 days and when an employee separates from the College they will not be indebted to the College for days worked.  

The attached summary further explains the rationale supporting this change and the impact on employees.  Please note that this change does not impact full-time CSEA employees or full-time Teaching Faculty paid over 10 months.
