OER Newsflash- Psychology and Chemistry

SUNY OER Services (SOS) has two opportunities to build, deliver, and research new OER courseware.

  • SOS is looking for Psychology instructors who are passionate about OER materials to help develop and pilot two new courses: Social Psychology and Child Psychology. These courses will be added to the SUNY OER catalog and will be available at no cost to all SUNY campuses. The project begins in 2024. If interested, please email SOS (oer@suny.edu).
  • Additionally, SUNY OER Services' partner, the Open Learning Initiative (OLI) at Carnegie Mellon University, is seeking Chemistry instructors to participate in a new Gates Foundation-funded research project. OLI and Arizona State University have created a next-generation Chemistry exemplar course titled REAL Chemistry. It’s student-focused to improve the likelihood of success, especially for struggling students. Pilot instructors receive a stipend and will help guide the iterative improvement of groundbreaking courseware. A demo of the courseware will be held this Friday, November 17th at noon in a webinar, "Making general chemistry active and relevant with REAL CHEM, courseware from ASU and CMU".
