TCC Kudos: From Faculty to Faculty

  • Kathleen Borbee, BUS
While walking through building 9 this week, I couldn't help but notice a classroom packed full of students enthusiastically working together on computers, deeply involved in whatever they were learning. Kudos to Kathleen Borbee for keeping her students active and engaged, especially so late in the semester!
  • Donna Burke, Renee Dimino, and Meghan Glaser, ESOL/TRS
Kudos to this team that developed the academic recovery course, COS 181, and the two faculty members who piloted it this semester. Students have benefitted from learning study approaches and self-management strategies, developing plans for academic success, and meeting regularly with a mentor.  Many of their students participated in a panel discussion hosted by the TCC and spoke about the challenges they've faced and their ideas for addressing and overcoming them. The students' comments about remembering that we're "professors for the students" and "it's discouraging when [we] don't believe in them" touched me deeply. Thank you for sharing your students with the College Community!
  • Amanda Colosimo, CHE/GEO
Amanda has taken on leadership of working to help MCC employees to improve morale and Amanda has taken on leadership of working to help MCC employees to improve morale and come together as we face challenges that have arisen post-pandemic, with unprecedented low enrollment and fear-based behaviors and reactions. Despite limitations with time and a busy semester, Amanda has made this a priority and has led the coordination of a number of gatherings, with more on the calendar. This is such a critical and meaningful endeavor.
    Jackie Dorsey, Nursing
Jackie's positive energy in the classroom is often contagious. She is always supporting and encouraging others!
  • Meghan Glaser, ESOL/TRS
Meghan is a kindhearted educator that beams when she knows she’s made a difference in the classroom. She builds relationships with her students by finding ways to connect with students through writing assignments, classroom activities, and ongoing conversations. Meghan gently encourages students to engage by finding activities that have multiple ways of bringing students into the course content. She also effectively uses her kind sense of humor, love of learning, and a sense of fun and wonder to reach students. I am honored to have her as a colleague. She’s authentic, compassionate, and reflective in the classroom, in meetings, and in life. Thank you, Meghan, for being a positive light. I wish you time to pursue your artistic endeavors this summer!
  • Ray Otto, Applied Tech
Ray exemplifies what true mentorship means.  Not only is he responsible for recruiting efforts, but he is also one of the main points of contact for all of our students at the ATC. He provides support with any roadblocks that a student might encounter.  For some of those students, he is the only support system that keeps them on track to graduation. He deserves kudos for all he does at the ATC as well as at Monroe Community College as a whole.
  • Nicholas Schramm, Nursing
Nicholas started his tenure at MCC in a whirlwind of activity! He has done amazing things with the Surgical Technology Club Students. He has brought innovative and creative teaching strategies to the classroom!
  • Judy Wilson, Nursing
Judy works behind the scenes to creative new and innovative classroom activities for students. In addition, she is the master coordinator of the department's accreditation database which has required extensive work this past year to prepare the department for our accreditation visit. Thank you Judy!
  • Liz Zion-Stratton, Jackie Dorsey, Cari Rosario-Mathieu, Audrey Shafer and Judy Wilson, Nursing
Kudos to the writing team for the Department of Nursing Self-Study for Accreditation! They have worked very hard all year to write each standard, collect data and create appendices. Their dedication and hard work is appreciated!

Please join the TCC in acknowledging these dedicated faculty members.
