Award Winning Model United Nations Program is back

Presenting the 2024 Model United Nations Program

One of MCC capstone program’s that highlights student leadership, is the Model United Nations Program.  Since 2006, over 30 students a year have applied to the program,  which makes this honors program attractive, inclusive, competitive and displays best practices.

Faculty please encourage your students to apply to the program.  Students this is your opportunity to enhance your life and career by being involved in a program that is awarding.

Consider these benefits:

  • Model UN is an honors class (4 credit hours) and students do not have to be honors majors in order to get honors credit.
  • The lab portion of the class is students will travel to New York City for one week to attend the largest Model UN simulation in the world with over 5,000 students from all over the world.  All expenses are paid for.
  • A Model UN conference is a concentration of different nationalities in the same place for one week. This is an International experience for students who will meet students from American and International colleges and universities.
  • Students become diplomats. Students will have the opportunity to try to face their fear of public speaking. This chance to overcome a fear of public speaking is great because it supports delegates’ personal growth and triggers self-confidence.
  • Model UN conferences are diplomatic simulations. Respect and cooperation are the fundamentals of the debate.

Students will have the opportunity to enhance or develop leadership skills with the opportunity to take on different roles as a delegate.Interested and want to know more?  Take advantage of attending one of the informational sessions listed below to learn more about the program.  We also have brochures around campus with applications to apply to the program inside the brochures.
