SUNY Board of Trustees and Chancellor King Statement on the Passing of Dr. Orinthia T. Montague

For Immediate Release: Friday, Sept. 22, 2023

“Today we stand with the Tompkins Cortland Community College family as we remember Dr. Orinthia T. Montague. She led the campus from 2017 and through the pandemic with great care and enthusiasm for the students who called TC3 home for their post-secondary education. Her passion for higher education was fueled by her certainty that it provides upward mobility and better lives for students from all backgrounds—and her top priority was making sure more students had access to a college degree. Orinthia came to campus to turn around declining enrollment, and she did.

“We are saddened by her untimely passing, and have her family and friends in our thoughts.”
