Save the Date - 2023 Diversity Conference Series

The 2023 MCC Diversity Conference is scheduled for Friday, October 6, 2023, from 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM on the Brighton Campus in the Warshof Conference Center, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center (Monroe A/B). The theme for this year’s conference is Challenge Accepted: Creating An Educational and Work Environment That Champions Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice and will feature SUNY’s Senior Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer, Dr. Ricardo Nazario y Colón.

The focus will center around the need for honest assessments and dialogue to ensure that faculty, staff and students are truly ready to address the issues of diversity, equity and belonging in both education and in the workforce.  Systematic DEISJ work requires grit, determination and a compassion for ensuring that every student, faculty, staff and employee has an equal and equitable opportunity to have their basic needs met and to have that sense of belonging based on relationships founded in trust, respect and support.  We hope that all participants come to the session to fully engage in the self-work necessary to create a positive learning and working environment for all.

This event is free and open to the public. Space is limited to the first 150 registrants. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Watch the Trib for a registration link available next week!

In addition to the morning session, MCC faculty and staff are invited to participate in an additional professional learning opportunity following the lunch portion of the Diversity Conference from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM.

Impact Interactive, LLC will engage participants in theatre-based and other interactive activities designed to explore what makes up a healthy campus community and to discuss actions that can lead to a more inclusive campus culture of belonging for everyone.

Registration for this portion is limited to the first 40 registrants. A link to register for this opportunity will be available on the Diversity Conference registration link available next week.
