WR-Approved Faculty: Reminder to Renew the WR Attribute for Your Spring 2024 Course(s)

Priority registration begins Oct. 30 and registration opens for all students Nov. 1. This is a friendly reminder to please renew the WR status for your courses if you have not yet done so. (If you have, thank you! There is nothing more you need to do at this time.)

The recertification tool is in the MCC portal, under Employees Tools, with the title Renew Your Course Attribute Designation(s). 

Note: This tool is only for individual faculty who opt to teach their specific sections of a course as WR. No action needs to be taken for blanket (or permanent) WR courses.

Instructions:

  1. Select the academic term for which you are recertifying [i.e. Spring 2024]
  2. Select WR-Writing Intensive from the Available Attributes field
  3. Type the CRN for the class, then choose "Section Lookup"
  4. Follow the rest of the on-screen instructions and click Submit
  5. Repeat the process for each of your courses (or each section) that needs recertification

You will receive a confirmation email for each recertification that you submit.

Once you've recertified, please check your course information sheet(s) to make sure that it clarifies that the course will be taught as WR. All WR courses should contain a statement on the CIS explaining what it means for students. You are welcome to use this one if you don't already have one:

This course is Writing Intensive (WR). In WR courses, students have the opportunity to learn course content through formal and informal writing assignments. To find out more about WR courses at MCC, consult your student handbook or visit the Writing Across the Curriculum website (monroecc.edu/depts/wac).
