Stephen P. Wise Appointed Director (Chief) of Public Safety

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen P. Wise as Director (Chief) of Public Safety, pending approval by the Board of Trustees.  Chief Wise will begin to lead the College's Public Safety Department on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 and brings over 30 years of both law enforcement and higher education experience to the College community.  He joins us after having served as Campus Safety Director at Genesee Community College since 2013, and is currently the 3rd Vice President for SUNY Community Colleges Public Safety Administrators Association.  Prior to his higher education work, Chief Wise served 20 years in Monroe County law enforcement.  Having started as a dispatcher in the Greece Police Department, he worked his way through the ranks in patrol and investigation as an officer and supervisor, and spent valuable time in administration.  Chief Wise is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy, holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Keuka College, and a Bachelor of Science, Criminal Justice from The College at Brockport, after having started his post high school education at MCC.  Chief Wise has also taught for Genesee Community College and The College at Brockport, where he also served as a student advisor for Criminal Justice students, as well as the Criminal Justice club.

The entire MCC Community and Monroe County will mutually benefit from Chief Wise's extensive experience in law enforcement and higher education.  Please join me in welcoming Chief Wise to Monroe Community College.
