We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Melis Kural as the new Coordinator of the Teaching and Creativity Center (TCC).  Dr. Kural brings a wealth of experience and expertise that will significantly contribute to MCC’s commitment to educational excellence and innovation.

Dr. Kural earned her Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Sociology from the University at Buffalo, focusing on the place-making of rural migrants and gentrification in Turkey. Dr. Kural was an international student when attending Geneseo, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Business Administration.

Dr. Kural taught as an adjunct at the Wentworth Institute of Technology, Newbury College, and the University at Buffalo and was an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Keuka College. Classes taught included Introduction to Sociology, Ethnic Diversity (for criminology and education majors), Social Control and Deviance (for criminology majors), and the Sociology of Diversity, to name a few.

After working at Keuka College, Dr. Kural served as the Program Coordinator for the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) at SUNY-Brockport.  Here, she led efforts for program development of EDI including designing anti-bias training, creating an EDI orientation for new faculty, staff, and students, and introducing restorative justice tactics at the organizational level, among other achievements.
