The Week Ahead

The office of Student Life & Leadership Development presents the following events for next week (please share with students):

Lunar New Year Event

  • Saturday, February 10th, 11:00am to 4:00pm, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center

In collaboration with Global Union Student Association and APAPA Rochester, we are co-hosting Rochester's first Lunar New Year celebration in the Flynn Campus Center. There will be art activities, dance and music performances, and more. 

GU will sell snacks and an American Chinese buffet meal at our Marketplace. A Korean food truck and Tai Chi Bubble Tea will also have a few offerings. MCC students & volunteers will receive a free ticket to the buffet lunch.

Valentine’s Day

  • Wednesday, February 14th, 11:00am to 1:00pm, Brighton Campus Center Terrace
  • Wednesday, February 14th, 12:00 to 1:00pm, Downtown Campus 2nd Floor Lounge

Join Campus Activities Board for a Valentine’s Day celebration on both Brighton and Downtown Campus. Enjoy free flowers and valentine’s goodies to help spread love around campus!

Other News:

  • DHS on Campus: Monroe County Department of Hyman Services will be on Campus at Brighton (3-126) Wednesday February 14th and at Downtown (2nd Floor) Wednesday March 13th from 10 am to 1pm. The DHS staff will be providing information on SNAP, HEAP, safe sleep, child support, and many other resources. Stop by if you need support or have any questions.
  • Tax Help on Campus: The Department of Taxation and Finance will be on campus to help students get in person tax help and file for free. Help will be available every other Monday on both campuses from 9:30 to 4:30 pm (Monday 2/12 will be at Downtown). Students must pre-register for an appointment on NYS website: www.tax.ny.gov/tap/
  • Student Government Association will be attending a Regional Conference at the University of Rochester this upcoming weekend. They will be able to meet and network with other student government members from different colleges.
