News from the September MCC Board of Trustees Meeting

The MCC Board of Trustees met on Monday, September 25, 2023 and took the following actions:

  1. Adopted the consent agenda effective September 25, 2023
  2. Accepted operating disbursements totaling $5,347,298.12 for the month of July 2023, subject to final audit. (A detailed listing is available upon request.)
  3. Accepted the Interim Financial Report as of July 31, 2023
  4. Authorized Purchase of items over $20,000 as listed for the month of July 2023
  5. Adopted the “Sexual Harassment and Discrimination Response and Prevention Policy” effective September 25, 2023
  6. Approved Consent Calendar

The Board heard presentations from:

  • Student Testimonial by Kristi Motra
  • Student Trustee Update by Ana Santos
  • Student Success Dashboard with Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Measurements William Dixon, Director, Research
  • Sexual Harassment Response and Prevention Training Tammy Kieper, Executive Director,
  • Dr. DeAnna R. Burt-Nanna provided the President’s Update, which included a highlight of the 3.4% increase in enrollment for Fall 2023 from Fall 2022, and an increase in retention rates from 47% in Fall 2021-22 to 48.5 % in Fall 2022-23, All College Day in August, the 9/11 memorial ceremony, the commissioning of the Future of Downtown Campus Committee, the upcoming Unlocking Opportunity meeting being held in Milwaukee in early October, and the recent SUNY Day DC
  •  Dr. Robin Cole Jr., Economic & Workforce Development & Career Technical Education (EDIWS) on EDIWS activities, Dr. Calvin Gantt, Vice President, Diversity, Equity and Belonging and Executive Director, Downtown Campus on division activities; Greg Hinton, CFO/Vice President, on Administrative Services activities; Dr. Margaret Semmer, Provost & Vice President on Academic Service activities; Gretchen Wood, Vice President, Institutional Advancement and Executive Director, MCC Foundation, on Institutional Advancement activities, MCC Foundation Board of Directors Chair Maureen Wolfe on upcoming activities, including the upcoming 5K Walk/Run for Scholarships on September 30, ROC the Day on November 28 and 32nd Annual Salute to Excellence on December 6th.  
  • Shared Governance representatives including Student Government Association President Joseph Leichtner, Faculty Senate President Rebecca Babcock, Dr. Burt-Nanna representing Administration, and Support Staff Planning Council provided a written report
  • Faculty Association President Beth Gizzi provided an update; CSEA leaders provided a written update.
