Farewell to Jason Parker, Director of Learning Support Systems (LSS)

Please take a moment with me to extend a sincere thank you to Jason Parker as he leaves MCC for another professional opportunity. During Jason's tenure, we have successfully centralized tutoring across campus, enforcing equitable hiring and salary practices and standardizing services across MCC's campuses, received College Reading and Learning Association International Tutor Training certification, implemented course-based learning assistance and Academic Coaching programs, updated our TRiO Student Support Services program to meet federal requirements, implemented TutorTrac (now TracCloud) to maintain data on our learning assistance programs, rolled out live online tutoring in just a few days during the pandemic, provided professional coaching for his staff, and mentored countless students of color.

In the following months, Sara Revello, Coordinator for Course-Based Learning Assistance, will assume interim Director duties. Sara has been involved in each aspect of Learning Support Services, most actively in implementing Supplemental Instruction in highly enrolled, low success rate courses, Perkins tutoring, Academic Coaching, and tutor training. Sara is dedicated to maintaining our high standards of service for our students, and I will also be available, as needed.
