Invitation to Participate in the New York State Charitable Tax Credit Program

Colleagues:

It is with great enthusiasm that we share that the SUNY Impact Foundation is once again offering the extraordinary opportunity to support Monroe Community College students through the New York State Charitable Tax Credit program. As a member of the MCC community, we would be elated to have your support on this initiative. You do not need to be employed by MCC to participate and we encourage you to share this information with anyone in your network who may be interested.

This is a wonderful way to make an unrestricted gift to the MCC Foundation or to establish or increase a named scholarship. Gifts of $35,000 or more could also qualify for naming opportunities on any of the MCC campuses.

From now until September 29th, interested participants are invited to apply for the program. On your application, you indicate the amount you would like to give this year.  By the first week of October, all applications will be tallied and approved.  If the total of all applications among SUNY exceeds $10 million (and we think it will), your application will be approved for a reduced, pro-rata amount.

Thanks to your generosity and that of more than 30 donors who took advantage of the tax credit program last year, the MCC Foundation raised $730,000 to support student success at MCC. We were ranked #5 in dollars raised among the participating SUNY campuses - and #1 among community colleges!

Key components of the program:

  • Qualified contributions to the SUNY Impact Foundation could receive an 85% NYS income tax credit.  Consult your tax advisor to ensure the program is right for you.
  • 98% of your gift to the SUNY Impact Foundation can be designated to the Monroe Community College Foundation.
  • The minimum gift amount for this program is $10,000 and the maximum is $100,000.

Important dates:

  • August 25 through September 29: program application open.
  • Early October: donors notified of the gift amount approved for the program.
  • November 30: Deadline to fulfill gift to the SUNY Impact Foundation.
