TCC: Fall Conversation #3--Neurodivergence and Learning

The Teaching and Creativity Center's fall 2023 Conversations series continues Wednesday, Nov. 15, 12:00 to 1:00 PM, with Neurodivergence and Learning.

This conversation, led by Wanda Willard (Psychology), will explore various types of neurodivergence, how they manifest in learners, and why consideration of neurodiversity matters when it comes to student belonging and academic success. The goal is to provide a better understanding of the differences in brain processing and how students learn.  Attendees will have a discussion on best practices for creating an inclusive classroom and community of learning for MCC students.

This is a hybrid event, so please join us however you can: in person in Room 12-201 at the Brighton Campus or via Zoom. All faculty and staff are welcome!

See the Campus Events listing to add to your own calendar. You may also email Amy Burtner if you'd like to receive an Outlook calendar invite instead.

This is the third of three Conversations this semester based on the TCC's theme of Communities of Learners. See the TCC's Brightspace portal for more details about the theme, as well as recordings for the Sept. 25 Conversation and the Oct. 24 Conversation in case you missed it.

The event is designed to meet the following goals of the Teaching and Creativity Center's programming:

  1. Create a culture of critical reflection, continual growth, and collaboration for faculty at all stages of professional growth
  2. Promote evidence-based, high-impact, innovative course design and teaching strategies that improve student outcomes
  3. Facilitate faculty inquiry into the study of teaching & learning with an equity lens

Questions about this event?  Please email Amy Burtner, one of the TCC's faculty leads.
