Public Safety Department Officer recognition

On December 7 the Public Safety Department recognized 3 of its officers for outstanding contributions to the department, which in turn benefits our college community.

Lt. Sam Hillmon:  Lt. Hillmon supervises the second shift, from 7 am to 3 pm, and consistently goes above and beyond while helping the department.  Recently the department hired 4 peace officers that started the police academy on December 6.  We had 3 on-campus days for our recruits and Lt. Hillmon stepped up and created a 3-day program that will help them acclimate to MCC and the upcoming academy.

Sergeant Anthony Iacuzzi: Sgt. Iacuzzi primarily works the third shift, from 3 pm to 11 pm, and is one of the department firearms instructors.  Sgt. Iacuzzi designed the fall in-service firearms program, where officers learned about shooting under stressful conditions and practiced shooting from moving positions.  The live fire drills contained vital “shoot / don’t shoot” decision-making dilemmas for officers to consider as they moved between stations.

Guard Patricia Hunt: Guard Hunt primarily works the 3 pm to 11 pm shift and is often seen at MCC sporting events, as well as Red Wing Baseball.  Guard Hunt was honored for recent contributions she made to multiple investigations with her command and knowledge of the college camera system.  Guard Hunt was able to add faces and facts to incidents which in turn helps the college better protect its community, having a better understanding of what happened in post-incident reviews.
