TCC: Fall Conversation #2--Connections: The Brain and Learning

The TCC's fall 2023 Conversations series continues next Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2:00 to 3:00pm, with Connections: The Brain and Learning.

What exactly is going on in our brains when we learn something? Andrew Knapp (Psychology) will provide an overview of how the brain processes information and how making connections between what we already know and what we are encountering for the first time leads to more and deeper understanding. Attendees will in turn learn how these processes can be utilized to aid student learning.

This is a hybrid event, so please join us however you can: in person in Room 12-201 at the Brighton Campus or via Zoom.

See the Campus Events listing to add to your own calendar. You may also email Amy Burtner if you'd like to receive an Outlook calendar invite instead.

All faculty and staff are welcome!

This is the second of three Conversations this semester based on the TCC's theme of Communities of Learners. See the TCC's Brightspace portal for more details about the theme, as well as the recording of the Sept. 25 Conversation in case you missed it.

The event is designed to meet the following goals of the Teaching and Creativity Center's programming:

  1. Create a culture of critical reflection, continual growth, and collaboration for faculty at all stages of professional growth
  2. Promote evidence-based, high-impact, innovative course design and teaching strategies that improve student outcomes

Questions about this event?  Please email Amy Burtner, one of the TCC's faculty leads.
