Patrick Bates Retirement

After 35 years of leadership and dedicated service to MCC, Patrick Bates, our long-standing Director of Purchasing, has annouced his plans to retire on June 1, 2023.

Joining us after several years at RIT, Pat started his MCC career in 1988 as the Bursar.  Growing tired of chasing students for money, he decided he would rather spend the College's money and accepted the Director of Purchasing position in 1995.

While Pat has been a very valuable member of the MCC team for many years, what I have valued most about Pat is his integrity and genuine commitment to the College.  Whether handling compliance regulations, securing the goods and services needed to serve our students, or processing one of the hundreds of college contracts, he has always done what is in the best interest of the College.  He even delayed his retirement so the College could better transition this critical role!

At Pat's request, we will not be having any pomp and circumstance to honor him before he retires as he prefers to quietly walk out the back door on June 1st.  However, rumor has it that he has accepted a position as a service clerk at Ace Hardware in Inlet, NY - so if you are ever in Inlet just stop by Ace and you may see him there.

Please join me in congratulating Pat on his retirement!
