SUNY-MCC Print Program Is Now Underway

MCC is replacing existing Xerox devices and desktop units with new state-of-the-art Toshiba & HP equipment. The new multi-function devices will print, copy, and scan to email. This will yield both greater efficiencies as well as cost savings for the college through reduced lease expenses and price-per-print rates. The MCC team continues to work closely with Toshiba to ensure that the implementation not only simplifies print processes, but achieves financial savings, ensures secure printing where needed, and achieves key sustainability objectives including fewer devices, decreased paper usage, reduced energy consumption, and less waste. We anticipate a reduction in total print devices of over 650 units, decreasing from 780+ devices currently to approximately 125 once fully implemented.

The SUNY-MCC managed print program is well underway with multi-function devices now in place on the third floor of the Spina Administration Building, in the North Faculty Tower and in the South Faculty Tower. After an initial trial period to build user awareness and comfort with this new approach to print management, a jointly-developed plan for removal of desktop units will be forthcoming.

This campus-wide effort will continue throughout the academic year, with the completion goal of August 31, 2024. The initial phase of the program began in June 2022 after SUNY entered an agreement with Toshiba. (See Daily Tribune archived article.)
