Digital Badges in Information Literacy Education: Spotlight on MCC Libraries

MCC librarians headlined the recent "Spotlight on SUNY Libraries" event on December 13th, delivering a webinar that showcased the outstanding achievements within MCC Libraries. 

Alice Wilson and Dax Parasnis-Samar presented the development and implementation of College Researcher, the award-winning information literacy digital badging program from Monroe Community College Libraries. In their session, they unpacked the program's evolution, shared insights into the challenges they've grappled with, provided attendees with a preview of future plans, and discussed how other libraries can integrate our open content into their own information literacy initiatives. 

The presentation focused on the equity-driven motivations that fueled the creation of this program, designed to level the playing field and ensure all students develop the essential research skills needed for academic success.
