Ramadan 2024

Ramadan 2024 is here from March 11th until April 9th or 10th

What faculty needs to know:  

  • Ramadan is the Muslim month of fasting. 
  • Practicing Muslim students will be fasting from dawn until dusk (~ 6AM until ~ 8PM)
  • Fasting =  No Food and No Water during fasting hours

During Ramadan Muslims will often pray late into the night.  It is not unusual to be up past midnight for prayers and then get up around 4AM to eat and pray at dawn.

Muslim students in your classes may be tired, hungry, and dehydrated -- especially if they are with you late in the afternoon.  Please be mindful of this if they are in your classes.
