TCC: RSVP by 5PM Today for MCC Adjunct Faculty Spring Kickoff

Please join us for the MCC Adjunct Faculty Spring Kick-off on Thursday, January 18, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in Monroe A at the Brighton Campus.  

  • Fostering Empathy: Facilitating Community with MCC's Student-Parents

You are warmly invited to join us as we explore and practice the cultivation of empathy for oneself, and the expansive, mutual benefit of extending that empathy to others. As of fall 2022, 1,422 of those enrolled at MCC (one out of five!) are student-parents and are inclusive of a wide range of diverse family structures.

This presentation will highlight the unique strengths, aptitudes, challenges, and lived experiences that student parents bring with them as MCC students. We will discuss a more thorough view of what we as educators and professionals can be mindful of and purposeful about when engaging with our student-parent population. Along with the discussion, there will be strategies grounded in empathy that can be invaluable in ensuring responsiveness with this unique population of our student body, and in directly facilitating educational experiences within our learning environment.

The panel discussion entitled “Fostering Empathy: Facilitating Community with MCC's Student-Parents" will presented by Meghan Glaser and April Daniels (ESOL and Transitional Studies.)
