The Travel Club is Collecting Diapers and Personal Care Items Through the End of March!

The Travel Club will be collecting diapers for Rochester’s only Diaper Bank, and Personal Care items for DWIGHT through the month of March. Donations can be dropped off at Food For Thought (3-146) or the Hospitality department (3-155).

The Junior League of Rochester Diaper Bank distributes more than 20,500 diapers to partner organizations and social workers each month. All supplies for the diaper bank are obtained through diaper drives/donations and fundraising efforts of the Junior League of Rochester organization.

Facts:

  • More than 1 in 3 families are unable to provide diapers for their children.
  • Rochester, NY has the highest rates of childhood poverty among cities of comparable size, with more than half of all children living in poverty.
  • Diapers and wipes are not covered by any form of government assistance.
  • Babies require 6 to 12 diapers per day, and disposable diapers can cost as much as $80 per month, per baby.
  • Babies who remain in a soiled diaper too long are exposed to potential health risks, such as bacterial infections and severe diaper rash.

DWIGHT personal care item needs include:

  • Deodorant
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Tissues
  • Moisturizers
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Toothpaste/Toothbrushes
