Travel Transfer Club Members Tour Boston's Elite Universities
The Travel Transfer Club (TTC), formed in September, is downtown's newest
student run club. The club adds to an already active and social downtown campus
experience. Founder and President, Sherna St. Claire, has been instrumental in
the clubs formation and already has 11 active members and 2 advisors. The
club's mission is to help MCC students build a bridge to their next level of
education.
On November 2, the club took it's first out-of-town trip to Boston to tour
some colleges. The TTC members got a first-hand tour of the prestigious Boston
Conservatory / Berklee School of Music on Friday and Wentworth Institute of
Technology on Saturday. They were awe-inspired and excited on the tours,
probing for as much information as possible. A few club members described their
experience as "dope".
The city was buzzing as the Boston Red Sox had just beaten the LA Dodgers in
the World Series. ESPN and the Sunday Night Football crew was in town to hype
the game between Tom Brady and the New England Patriots and Aaron Rodgers and
the Green Bay Packers in nearby Foxboro.
Following the college tours, the students got to test their palate at the
historic Quincy market, browse the public market and stroll down Union street -
dated from the early 1800s and part of the freedom trail.
The Travel Transfer club members were very motivated and raised nearly
$1,500 in a matter of weeks to make this trip happen. Kudos to them for their
hard work! A few of the club members had not traveled outside Rochester their
entire lives - so for them this was an unforgettable experience. And for
everyone else, historic.
