Indigenous Environmental Activism in Art - Opening Reception

Join us at the Mercer Gallery for an Opening Reception for the Indigenous Environmental Activism in Art exhibit on Thursday, November 9, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The No DAPL (Dakota Access Pipe Line) movement stimulated many to "Stand with Standing Rock" against big oil in 2016 and incited awareness of critical environmental issues and climate change. Indigenous communities have long been aware of various problems of the environment and have reflected it in their art practice. Indigenous Environmental Activism in Art showcases how Indigenous artists are raising awareness of environmental issues. As a part of the show, posters of artists' work will be available for purchase and proceeds will go towards charities that are taking a stand against climate change.

Free and open to the public.
