What does 'HOC' mean on the Master Schedule?

Faculty and advisors might notice a new designation on the Master Schedule: HOC. The 'HOC' designation appears on ENG 218, ENG 243, BUS 220, and PSY 220.

'HOC' stands for Honors Option Course, which is a new form of Honors Course the Honors Institute is piloting in the spring 2018 semester. Honors Option courses are standard sections, with three seats reserved for Honors-eligible students who agree to do Honors-level work in addition to the standard work of the course. These students can then earn Honors credit toward the Advanced Studies Certificate for the HOC.

If you advise a student interested in one of these Honors Option Courses, contact the Honors Faculty Advisor in your school who can assist you with the pilot.
