"Tell Our Story" - Holocaust Survivors on the MCC Campus

Tell Our Story is this year’s theme for the Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project (HGHRP). The HGHRP’s purpose is to commemorate, educate and advocate for Human Rights. For the past 35 years, the project has evolved in many ways. In 1992, a student organization was formed after students in The Psychology of the Holocaust course wanted to increase awareness of the Holocaust and other world atrocities. Through the years, many Holocaust and Genocide scholars have visited MCC and shared their expertise.

The Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project has been inviting Holocaust survivors to share their stories for 35 years. Hearing their stories in the first person will not exist in the future. As we approach the 35th Annual Yom HaShoah Commemoration we will continue to educate how historical lessons demand contemporary obligations.

We will begin our 35th year with the story of Steve Hess and Marion Ein Lewin, Holocaust survivors and authors of Inseparable.

Marion and Steven are twins-born 45 minutes apart in Amsterdam Holland. They were four years old when the Nazis invaded and took them prisoner.

They will share their story on Wednesday, October 9 at noon in the Forum. Please invite your students, and join us for this meaningful story of courage and resilience.
