National Cyber Security Awareness Month

You've waited all year, and it's almost here! October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to raise awareness about the importance of cyber security.

In compliance with MCC's Cyber Security Awareness and Education Policy, all employee users will be required to complete training. The online SANS Securing the Human Cyber Security training modules will help you protect yourself, your family and the college from cyber-attacks and disclosure of sensitive information.

You can find the link to Cybersecurity Awareness Training on the myMCC "Tech" tab under Technology Links. To start using your security awareness training account, log in using your MCC email address and password.

The training consists of 16 mandatory training videos averaging less than 3 minutes in length. There is a short quiz after each to test your understanding. If you want to take them all in one sitting, it will take you less than an hour. (Total video length is 44:53 minutes.)

The mandatory videos are:

  1. You are the Shield
  2. Social Engineering
  3. Email, Phishing and Messaging
  4. Browsing Safely
  5. Social Networks
  6. Mobile Device Security
  7. Password
  8. Encryption
  9. Data Security
  10. Physical Security
  11. Hacked
  12. Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
  13. Targeted Attacks
  14. Cloud Services
  15. Privacy
  16. Conclusion

There are also 19 additional recommended training videos (totaling 54 minutes) that are available for you to take at your convenience.

You are the most powerful defense we have to protect our data from cyber criminals. They are constantly trying new ways to trick you into giving them your credentials and access to confidential information. Learn how to protect your identity and prevent harm to MCC. Arm yourself with the latest information so you don't fall for these attacks.
