Library Workshop for Students: Finding Sources--How to Search Effectively

Research can be overwhelming, and students often struggle with where to start. MCC Libraries is offering Finding Sources: How to Search Effectively, a workshop designed to help students build confidence in their research process. In this session, they’ll learn how to use library databases, select effective keywords, and apply filters to find credible sources—helping them feel more in control of their research and saving them time.

Workshop Details:

  • Date & Time: Wednesday, October 30, 12:00 to 12:50 p.m.
  • Location: LeRoy V. Good Library (Brighton Campus), Room 423, or join via Zoom

This workshop will give students practical strategies they can use right away. Plus, beyond the workshop, they can schedule one-on-one sessions with a librarian for personalized guidance or drop by the library at the Brighton or Downtown campuses for quick in-person support.

Interested in bringing these skills directly into your classroom? We can customize the workshop to fit your course. Just fill out our online request form or email us at libraries@monroecc.edu.

Encouraging your students to attend—whether as part of an assignment, for extra credit, or simply to improve their research skills—can make a real difference in their academic success.
