Visiting Scholar to Discuss Executive-Legislative Relations in the Area of Foreign Policy

On Monday, October 21st, from 12-1250pm in 3-130 (Forum), The Democracy Commitment at MCC and the office of Global Education and International Services will host Scott LaDeur, Ph.D. for a discussion on executive-legislative relations in the area of foreign policy.

Dr. LaDeur will be presenting his recent research on the foreign policy making relationship between the Trump administration and Congress. His presentation will specifically highlight cases in which the Republican Congress (2017-2019) worked with or opposed the Trump administration on issues of foreign policy. Through an analysis of these cases, with attention paid to constitutionally assigned foreign policy powers, Dr. LaDeur will help us better understand who is currently paramount in the area of foreign policy making: the White House or Congress. Dr. LaDeur's presentation is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
