Rochester AmeriCorps Information Session

Rochester AmeriCorps is recruiting for the 2017-2018 term of service!

To learn about our program and how to apply please join us for an Information Session today, Wednesday May 10th at 2:00 PM in the Community room, 4193, at the Damon City Campus.

At this session individuals will learn about the mission and goals of Rochester AmeriCorps, the personal and professional benefits of serving, and the process for submitting an application. We will outline the responsibilities and expectations of members who are accepted to serve and will be available to answer questions.

Rochester AmeriCorps is currently recruiting members for the 2017-2018 term of service, which begins Sept. 11 2017 and ends Aug. 13, 2018. Rochester AmeriCorps is an education focused program in which members commit to serving students in Rochester City schools. Essential member activities may include: contributing to extra-curricular or enrichment activities, providing academic and social-emotional supports, supporting attendance initiatives, tutoring one-on-one or small groups, providing college / career preparation services, coordinating school and community events, and conducting outreach to parents and members of the Rochester community. Members are able to build meaningful relationships with students, staff, and administrators and contribute to a positive school climate.

Benefits of service include: bi-weekly living allowance of $522 (estimated, pre-tax) an education award of $5,815 (upon program completion), National Service Forbearance on qualified student loans, no cost health insurance, child care subsidy (if eligible), specialized training and ongoing professional development and networking opportunities. Rochester AmeriCorps is sponsored by Monroe Community College.

As stated by a program alumnus, "The positive impact on my life, both personally and professionally, is an experience I couldn't have gained anywhere else. Being a part of the community that is AmeriCorps... made me a better human being."

Individuals may request a paper application by contacting the Rochester AmeriCorps office at americorps@monroecc.edu.

Qualified candidates should have an interest in community service and / or volunteering, a strong work ethic, a desire to serve students in the Rochester City School District, and a willingness to learn and grow personally and professionally.
