Congratulations Christy Woods Appointed as Dean of STEM and Health
Dear MCC Faculty, Staff, and Students,
Pending the MCC Board of Trustees’ approval on Monday, June 9, 2025, Ms. Christy Woods will be appointed to the position of Dean of STEM and Health, effective Friday, May 2, 2025. Ms. Woods has served in this role in an acting capacity since August 1, 2024, and will continue to do so until her appointment date.
Ms. Woods brings to her new position a wealth of experience, having served the College for over 25 years in various capacities. She began her career at MCC in 2000 as an adjunct professor of Mathematics, eventually securing a tenure-track appointment and earning the rank of “full” Professor. Since then, she has held numerous leadership roles, including serving as the Faculty Council of Community Colleges (FCCC) delegate and, most recently, as FCCC president.
Throughout her time at MCC, Ms. Woods has been an active and dedicated member of the Mathematics Department. Her contributions have included extensive committee work focused on faculty evaluation, course scheduling, and promotion. Her commitment to the broader college community is equally distinguished, shown through her work on key institutional initiatives such as the last two Middle States self-studies and the Virtual Campus Committee.
I am confident that Ms. Woods will continue to provide the requisite leadership to advance the mission of the College and priorities of the ASA division.
I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the search co-chairs, Terry Keys and Julie Babulski, as well as all members of the search (listed below). Additionally, the collegewide feedback collected during finalist interviews proved invaluable to this process—so thanks to all who completed a survey.
