Auditions for Green Day's American Idiot

Auditions for MCC’s production of Green Day’s American Idiot are fast approaching!

When: Monday, Sept. 16
Time: 3:30 to 5pm
Where: MCC’s Brighton Campus Mainstage Theatre, Room 4-141

Prep: 16 bars (roughly a verse and a chorus) of a song that is in the style of the show (punk rock, or hard rock, or rock ballad). You may choose a song from the show, if you wish. Songs will be sung a cappella, or if you choose, you can sing to a ‘karaoke’ track on your phone. Be sure to choose something that will not only show off your vocal range, but your theatrical expression as well. I’m not looking for “traditional” musical theatre standards this time, please. Or Disney. Actors do NOT need to prepare a monologue. If necessary, I will provide you with sides at the audition.  If you can play guitar while you sing and can walk around onstage, all at the same time, and are interested in auditioning for the roles of 'Johnny' or 'Will', please bring your acoustic guitar to the audition to show off these skills (if you can do these things, but don’t have a guitar, please email me).

Again, I’m looking to see how you express emotions through the song you perform at the audition.

This is a heavy show that deals with a lot of angst and adult themes, and I strongly recommend researching the show before auditioning. Auditions are open to enrolled MCC students only. If cast, you will be enrolled in either THE 142 or MUS 142, and all tuition fees apply. Mandatory rehearsals will be Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30 to 6:30pm and will begin Monday, Sept. 23. Performance dates are November 22, 23, and 24.

Thank you, and break a leg!
