MCC Daily Tribune

Greetings of Gratitude

Thank you notes from across the campus continue to roll-in. The link is still open, so please submit your thank you here!!!

Laurie Palmer, Nursing Chairperson thanked the entire Nursing Department: "Within a two week time frame, MCC's nursing faculty transitioned our entire program, including clinical courses, to a virtual environment. Faculty rapidly completed training on multiple virtual clinical platforms, supported students to utilize these new platforms, and developed creative ways to assess student outcome attainment. The strength of the plan developed secured our rapid approval by the NYS SED Office of Professions and provides students with the opportunity to progress and complete their nursing education. The rapid deployment of this plan would not have been possible without the support of the MCC Foundation and our Instructional Technology staff. Kudos to all!"

Bailey Burritt and Jeremy Case, of Instructional Technologies because, "In the week before the shut down, Bailey and Jeremy helped me narrated so many lectures in the Recording Studio. My teammate Anne Vogtle and I spent literally hours there! Bailey promptly got these videos up on Ensemble so we could make them available to our Nursing students."

Barbara Ellis, Health Professions Department Chairperson, "What a remarkable and caring leader. While having multiple courses and students of her own, Barb has been remarkable in checking on her department faculty, not to wrangle or herd, but rather to consistently say 'what do you need?', 'what can I do to help?'. Health Professions is a unique department, with three distinct accredited programs, three separate accreditation agencies with varied but strict requirements, three unique certification/licensure processes for grads, and each extremely intertwined with multiple community players. Keeping abreast of the dynamics is challenging in smooth waters, let alone a time when all community players have had to back out of the game. She believes in us, and consistently encourages faculty to actuate their potential, looking 'to place the step stool', enabling new heights. So great to have someone cheering us on in these trying times."
