A Day for Success with Upward Bound’s Senior Students

A Day for Success with Upward Bound’s Senior Students

Monday December 5th was an early dismissal day for Rochester City Schools, so we took the opportunity to empower our seniors! MCC Upward Bound’s College Academic Counselor Mrs. Fabretti held an event called Senior Success Day, a combination of recognition and college preparation work. We celebrated with those students who were on honor roll or high honor roll. Congrats to Isabel, Angeliz, and Katie!

Senior high school students had a chance to work on their college essays and their financial aid applications. A few students worked on their Save for Success applications, a $3,000 scholarship for prospective MCC students. The scholarship matches each dollar they put towards their education 8 to 1. The Perry Initiative Application was also on some students’ to-do list; the one-day intensive exposes female high school students to academic resources for professions in medicine and engineering. Ryshig, a UB high school senior at Wilson said, “I appreciate the help I received. Without it, I wouldn’t have finished my college preparation.” Thank you Mrs. Fabretti for helping our seniors get ready for college.
