Celebration of Learning Student Testimonial

Happy Friday! April 30th marks the 4th annual Celebration of Learning. Over the next few weeks, you will hear from three students as they encapsulate what the Celebration of Learning is all about.

We asked Elizabeth about their experience. Let’s see what they say:

"...I realize(d) that this was the first time someone had really, seriously engaged with my essay work beyond the professor who'd signed off on it. My favorite moment in both of my years attending has always been while presenting to a group of people some four or five strong, all at first incredulous as to my topic yet leaving with a clear investment in it. ... I always loved watching their eyes light up, slowly but surely grappling with my project and considering their possible responses. I was always shocked to hear how many people wanted a copy of my essay - this really is a space which will kill one's preconceptions of how a growing academic might engage with your work. I always felt so proud afterwards, that I'd left some sort of greater impact in the world with my writing, yet small. The Celebration of Learning's purpose now, to me, is this: to provide aspiring academic voices a space to start flexing their muscles, a space to prove they can do the same magic that their professors do for a living."

Event Details:

  • Date & Time: Wednesday, April 30, 2025, 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.

The Celebration of Learning encourages students to present their work in whatever format feels right to them, be it a poster, PowerPoint, artwork, essay, or prototype. This isn’t about competition; it’s about building confidence, sharing knowledge, and recognizing each student’s unique voice. The atmosphere is welcoming and accessible, making it a perfect way for students to experience the satisfaction of sharing their hard work with our community.

Applications are available online now! This event is a wonderful opportunity for students to feel supported and celebrated in their academic journey.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
