Visiting Playwright Seayoung Yim
The Sixth Act and Creative Arts are excited to remind students, faculty, and staff that Playwright Seayoung Yim is visiting MCC in April!
- Thursday, April 3, at 7 PM: Two MCC Theatre alumni will perform a reading of a scene from one of Seayoung's plays in the Black Box Theater, followed by a conversation with Seayoung.
- Friday, April 4, at 10 AM: Seayoung will run a special interdisciplinary workshop focusing on expressing yourself creatively in the Black Box Theater.
- Friday, April 4, at 12 PM, Seayoung will run a playwriting workshop in Room 8-200.
All are welcome to all of these events!
Seayoung Yim is a playwright and educator from Seattle. Her play, Jar of Fat, published by Yale University Press, was the 2022 winner of the Yale Drama Series Prize. Honors include: Woolly Mammoth X Black List Playwriting Commission, Powers Playwriting Fellowship - Old Globe, 2023 Kilroys Web, Hedgebrook residency, Sewanee Writers’ Conference fellowship, Stephen Sondheim Graduate fellowship, finalist - 2024 L. Arnold Weissberger New Play Award, second place - Paul Stephen Lim Playwriting Award (KCACTF). Her work has been supported by Ma-Yi Writer’s Lab, Clubbed Thumb, Annex Theater, Cafe Nordo, and others. Yim earned a Master of Fine Arts from Brown University.
