The Week Ahead

Disability Awareness Club Book Drive

  • Friday November 1st to Tuesday, November 19th 

Donate a new or gently used book for all ages. This drive benefits MCC parents and their children. Donation boxes will be outside Student Life and Leadership office (3-126) on Brighton Campus and the following locations for Downtown Campus: Café 321, outside of Student Life and Leadership Development office (214), and outside of Student Service Center (310).

DWIGHT Hat & Mitten Drive:

  • Tuesday, November 12th to Wednesday November 20th

DWIGHT is having a hat and Mitten Drive. Please donate new items to benefit our MCC Community.  Drop off the items at the Office of Student Life, 3-126, or the Downtown Campus 3rd Floor Suite 310.

Veteran’s Day Ceremony:  

  • Tuesday, November 12th, 12:30 pm, Brighton Campus Veterans Memorial (courtyard between building 7 and Library)

Please join the Veteran’s club as we honor our student- veterans, faculty and staff. We thank them for our service to the Nation!

Visiting Poet: Sarah Freligh:

Join the Creative Arts for a visit by Poet and Author Sarah Freligh. Recent work has appeared in the Cincinnati Review miCRo Series, SmokeLong Quarterly. Among her awards are poetry fellowships from the national endowment for the arts and the Saltonstall foundation.

Egg Drop Contest:

  • Wednesday, November 13th, 12:00 to 1:00 pm, Brighton Campus Center Terrace/Atrium

Please join Engineering Leadership Council for their annual egg drop competition. Eggs and supplies will be provided at sign up.

33rd Annual Kristallnacht Artwork & Keynote:

  • Artwork: Tuesday, November 12th to Thursday November 14th, 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, Brighton Campus Terrace
  • Keynote: Thursday, November 14th, 7:00 pm, Brighton Campus Forum (3-130)

Please join the Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project and the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester for MCC’s 33rd Annual Kristallnacht Keynote, Dr. James Waller. Dr. Waller will be presenting on the following topic: Confronting Evil- Promoting and Protecting Human Rights in an Inhuman world. Check out student artwork in promotion to this event in the terrace during the week leading up to keynote presentation.

MCC Art Faculty Exhibition:

  • Thursday November 14th, 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Mercer Gallery (Building 12)

Enjoy an Artist lecture and opening reception hosted by Creative Arts.

Bike Safety & Security

  • Friday November 15th, 12:00 to 1:00 pm, Brighton Campus Building 7-107

Join the Society of Women Engineers for a discussion on Bike Safety and Security with guest speaker Jim Downer from MCC’s Cycling Council.  Come learn how to lock your bicycle effectively.  Enjoy free Pizza and a Q & A Session to follow.

Other News:

  • Eleven Student Government student leaders will be traveling to Syracuse, NY for the SUNY Student Assembly Leadership Conference. They will be attending leadership workshops and attending SUNY business meetings. The State University of New York Student Assembly is the university-wide student government for the 64 institutions of the State University of New York.
