Two Upcoming Campus Presentations: War in International Politics and Global Sources of Populism in the U.S.

The PRISM Multicultural Centers will host two presentations on global politics this semester. Please take a look below for more information. These events are free and open to the public. Advance registration is not required. 

War and Conflict: The Causes, Costs, and Ethics of Armed Aggression in the Global System

  • March 6, 12pm to 1pm
  • PRISM Multicultural Center, Brighton Campus
  • Robert Muhlnickel, Ph.D. (Philosophy), and Joseph Scanlon, Ph.D. (Political Science) will explore and discuss the potential causes of war in international politics, its varying forms and consequences, and the philosophies and international laws that speak to constraining when and how wars are fought. 

Populism and Globalization: How International Factors Shape Our Domestic Politics

  • May 8, 12pm to 1pm
  • PRISM Multicultural Center, Brighton Campus
  • Nayda Pares-Kane, Ph.D. (Sociology), and Joe Scanlon, Ph.D. (Political Science) will discuss the concept of populism in the context of current American politics. The presentation will discuss the definition of populism, when the label applies, and the global factors that help give life to America's current populist movement.
