ASL Club is hosting movie night, Friday, November 8th!
MCC ASL Club and the Global Union along with the Student Government Assocation/Student Life Team is proud to present a Movie Night on Friday, November 8th from 5 to 7 pm in Monroe B in the MCC Campus center near the cafeteria.
- This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required for food count.
- Please register for the dinner/movie event, ideally before November 6th, but if not, please still register.
- Interpreters will be provided.
This event will include the following Mediterranean Flavours dinner:
- Enjoy the cuisine known for it’s diverse flavors influenced by the countries that surround the Mediterranean Sea. Includes fattoush salad, choice of two entrees, grilled seasoned pita bread, choice of sides, cannoli cake and lemonade and orange infused water. Please let us know if you have any food allergies in the registration form.
About the Movie
Lawand, deaf from birth, seeks a fresh start with his family in the UK after a traumatic year in a refugee camp. At Derby's Royal School for the Deaf, he learns sign language and discovers a way to communicate with the world. As he thrives, his family faces deportation, challenging their stability. Name Me Lawand is a love letter to the power of friendship and community.
Before the movie, Faiz Saleh, VP of the ASL Club, will share his experiences as an immigrant from Banglasdesh.
