The Office of Student Life & Leadership Development presents the following events for next week (please share with students):

Peanut Butter & Jelly Community Service Project:

  • Monday, March 24th through Thursday, April 10th, 8:45am to 4:45pm, Donation Box Located on Brighton Campus, Building 3 Room 126

The Surgical Technology Club is hosting a Peanut Butter & Jelly Community Service Project! They are looking for donations to fill lunch bags for the Open Door Mission. Donations such as peanut butter, jelly (grape and strawberry), individual or family pack chips, snacks (hostess/mini muffins/fruit snacks) and juice (CapriSun – small or multipack) will be accepted. All other items will be donated to the DWIGHT Food Pantry.

Learn About Niagara University with PTK:

Join PTK and Niagara University for a pizza party info session to learn about everything Niagara has to offer. PTK members can get a $24,000 PTK merit scholarship for transferring there! Virtual Tour of Auschwitz with the Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project:

  • Tuesday, April 8th, 3:30pm to 5pm, Brighton Campus, Building 12, Room 125 & Virtual option available

An Auschwitz Virtual Live Tour transports visitors to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp for a unique learning experience, using historical footage, Holocaust survivor testimonies and modern animation combined with virtual reality tools to teach about the horrors that happened in the world’s most infamous concentration camp. The tours are led by expert tour guides in Poland.  Visit a historical testament of one of humanity’s deepest failures in this most faithful representation of an in-person visit to the Auschwitz memorial site. Student Nurses Association Silent Auction:

  • Wednesday, April 9th and Thursday, April 10th from 11am to 1pm, Brighton Campus, Building 3 Terrace

Help support the Student Nurses Association. Over 25 items will be on display for you to buy some tickets to win some wonderful prizes. All proceeds go to the Student Nurses Scholarship program. Ticket prices are: 1 for $1, 6 for $5, 14 for $10, and 30 for $20.

Soo Jin Lee with Yellow Chair Collective:

Soo Jin Lee is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in culture-integration and individualized therapy approach. She is the author of Where I Belong: Healing Trauma and Embracing Asian American Identity. She will be leading a workshop from 11am to 12pm and doing a book signing from 12pm to 12:30pm. All are welcome!

From Ukraine with Love: A Charity Banquet with Global Union:

  • Thursday, April 10th from 5pm to 8:30pm, Brighton Campus, Building 3, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center (Monroe A&B)

Join Global Union for a special evening celebrating Ukrainian culture while supporting a great cause – raising money to provide gear for women defending Ukraine during the ongoing war. Enjoy traditional Ukrainian food, live dance performances, fun activities for kids, and a special screening of “The Stolen Princess.” This event is free for MCC students. For Non-MCC Students: $20 for Adults & $10 for children under 10 years old.

Spring Soiree/Tea Party with Tabletop, Pride Alliance, and Cabbages & Kings:

  • Friday, April 11th, from 12pm to 4pm, Brighton Campus, Building 3 Forum

Join Tabletop, Pride Alliance, and Cabbages & Kings for a Spring Soiree and Tea Party before spring break! There will be fun activities to participate in and a delicious breakfast buffet.

Engineering Leadership Council (ELC): Come Build a Musical Robot:

  • Saturday, April 5th, 10am to 12pm, Brighton Campus, Building 3, Room 132

An ELC Semester Project! Join the ELC to build a musical robot.

Other News:

  • Robotics Club: On Tuesday, April 8th and Wednesday April 9th the Robotics Club will be sponsoring local vendors. Fiddlehead Farms, LLC will be on campus selling soaps and honey on Tuesday and Tealicious Trends will be on campus on Wednesday selling a wide variety of delicious teas! Happening on the Brighton Campus on the Terrace. Make sure to check it out!
  • DHS on Campus: Monroe County Department of Human Services will be on the Brighton Campus on Wednesday, April 9th from 10 am to 1pm. The DHS staff will be providing information on SNAP, HEAP, safe sleep, child support, and many other resources. Stop by if you need support or have any questions.
  • Tax Help on Campus: The Department of Taxation and Finance will be on campus to help students get in person tax help and file for free. Help will be available Monday, April 7th on Brighton campus building 11-101. Students must  pre-register for an appointment.
