Clarification on Wed. 7/14/21 article about the COVID-Era College Wide Survey Results
IR's COVID-Era College-Wide Survey Results Section II: Clarification on Info Posted in Wednesday’s Trib
In Wednesday's Tribune article, I explained how students’ lives now compare to their lives pre-pandemic. Part of that article said:
Certain sub-groups of respondents have been hit harder than others by the pandemic:
- More than half of Students of Color and Pell-eligible students can’t consistently eat three meals a day.
- More than half of younger students (age 24 and under), Pell-eligible students, and Non-Parents often feel stressed, anxious, or depressed.
- Students of Color, older students (age 25+), and Pell-eligible students don’t consistently have a safe and affordable place to live.
- Students of Color, Pell-eligible students, and Student-Parents can’t consistently pay their utility bills.
To clarify the last two bullet points, it is not that most Students of Color and students who are age 25+, Pell-eligible, and/or Student-Parents don’t have safe, affordable housing or the ability to pay utilities. It is just that a larger proportion of those students currently experience those difficulties as compared to their peers. The attached graphic shows those specific results.
