TCC: Upcoming TCC Conversation on Nov. 13--Grading for Growth

The book Grading for Growth, written by two mathematics professors, is billed as A Guide to Alternative Grading Practices That Promote Authentic Learning and Student Engagement in Higher Education and was the focus of a TCC Book Group this past spring. Join Tracey Graney on Wednesday, November 13, 12:00 to 12:50, in the TCC or on Zoom to discuss the fundamental principles of alternative grading practices presented in the book and why we should consider moving away from “traditional” point-based grading. The discussion will include examples of alternative grading systems already being used by MCC colleagues.

  • When: Wednesday, Nov. 13, 12:00 to 12:50 PM
  • Where: Brighton Campus TCC (12-201) with remote option to join via Zoom

All faculty and staff are welcome!

The event is designed to meet the following goal of the Teaching and Creativity Center's programming:

  • Goal 1: Create a culture of critical reflection, continual growth, and collaboration for faculty at all stages of professional growth
  • Goal 2: Promote evidence-based, high-impact, innovative course design and teaching strategies that improve student outcomes
  • Goal 3: Facilitate faculty inquiry into the study of teaching & learning with an equity lens
