COVID Loaner-Laptop Equipment Update

Equipment Return

Do you remember when we closed the college due to COVID and you borrowed a laptop, but we weren’t sure when it would need to be returned? Well, now is the time.

Next year, Microsoft plans to stop support for Windows 10, and most of those laptops won’t support Windows 11, so they need to be upgraded to a different device.

So, what’s the plan?

Well, first and foremost, if you borrowed a laptop from MCC, whether or not you are still using it, we need you to return it and any accessories.

We also need to get you upgraded, and this involves providing you with a new laptop and docking station. Please fill out and submit the Laptop/Docking Station Request form

Once the form is submitted, look for an email from techsupport@monroecc.edu requesting that you contact Employee Technical Support. They will check for OneDrive (for data backup), additional software (e.g., Acrobat, Tableau) and get a list of any accessories that will need to be installed (e.g., scanner, Dymo label printer).

Next, we will contact you to make arrangements for you to drop off your old laptop and pick up your new one. After pick up, you will hear from one of the MCC technicians who will schedule a time to install a docking station at your work location on campus in place of your desktop.

Important to note: You can still keep your monitors, keyboard, mouse, and other peripherals. You’ll just connect your laptop to them all through the dock. If you participate in MCC’s Flexible Work Program (i.e., you sometimes work remotely), you will simply take the laptop with you from campus to home and back.

Want to speed up the process?

If you are comfortable with technology, at any time after you complete the Laptop/Docking Station Request form, you can follow these steps to Set Up OneDrive. Having OneDrive already installed will reduce the time you spend speaking with a Technical Support staff member. But don't let that keep you from contacting us. We want to get your new laptop to you as soon as possible.

Thank you.
