The Week Ahead

The office of Student Life & Leadership Development presents the following events for next week (please share with students):

Celebrate Women’s History Month:

  • Monday, March 24th, 11am to 1pm, Brighton Campus, Building 3 Atrium

CAB is hosting a fun, interactive event for Women’s History Month. Come by the Atrium from 11am to 1pm for plenty of giveaways, food, and chat with local nonprofit organizations around Rochester, such as Trillium, Willow, and RESTORE.

Epilepsy Awareness:

  • Monday, March 24th, Downtown Campus 2nd Floor

The Disabilities Awareness Club is spreading epilepsy awareness on Purple Day! Epilepsy awareness day is a time to educate, support, and advocate for those living with this neurological condition. There will be student speakers to share their experience about living with disabilities as well as a pop-up gallery, where students can share their talents in the arts. Yankee the therapy dog will also be making an appearance at 12pm! Don’t miss it!

Soldering Workshop:

  • Monday, March 24th, 12 to 1pm, Brighton Campus, Building 9 Room 263

The Information Computer Technology (ICT) Club is hosting a soldering workshop for all to come to!

A Pakistani Iftar:

  • Monday, March 24th, 6:15 to 8:30pm, Brighton Campus, Monroe A&B

Join the Muslim Student Association to celebrate Iftar, which is the meal eaten by Muslims at Sunset to break fast during Ramadan. There will be delicious food from Pakistani House to celebrate.

Holistic Wellness Fair:

  • Wednesday, March 26th, 11am to 1pm, Brighton Campus, Building 3 Atrium

Join us for an afternoon focused on supporting your mind, body, and soul. There will be community resources, wellness activities, a free fitness class, therapy dogs, giveaway and prizes, and more!

Celebrate Holi:

  • Wednesday, March 26th, 12 to 2:30pm, Brighton Campus, Prism Multicultural Center, Building 1 Room 108

Join Global Union to celebrate Holi! A local business, Wheel & Slab, will be teaching everyone how to make hand-built clay trays. They will be bringing a creative and engaging clay experience while celebrating Holi!

Fischer Associates Panel:

  • Wednesday, March 26th, 12 to 1pm, Brighton Campus, Building 7 Room 109

Join the Engineering Leadership Counsel for an insightful talk with Roseann Schmid, who is the CEO of Fischer Associates! This is a perfect opportunity for students who are aspiring engineers planning their next steps after MCC. There will also be free pizza!

Engineering Leadership Council (ELC): Come Build a Musical Robot:

  • Saturday, March 29th, 10am to 12pm, Brighton Campus, Building 3, Room 132

An ELC Semester Project! Join the ELC to build a musical robot.

Other News:

Women’s Wellness Drive:

  • Women’s Wellness Drive: During the month of March, from 8:45am-4:45pm, stop by the Brighton Campus, Building 3, Room 126 & 125 and the Downtown Campus, Room 216 and Suite 310 to donate a variety of goods and resources for Women’s History Month! Items such as nonperishable foods, menstrual hygiene products, toiletries, and foods for expecting mothers.
  • Theatre Troup: On Wednesday, March 26th Theatre Troupe will be sponsoring Fiddlehead Farms, LLC, a local vendor who will be selling soaps and honey on the Brighton Campus in the Terrace. Make sure to check it out!
  • Tax Help on Campus: The Department of Taxation and Finance will be on campus to help students get in person tax help and file for free. Help will be available Monday 3/24 on Brighton campus building 11-101. Students must pre-register for an appointment (www.tax.ny.gov/tap/)
